EllenRae ShalettExecutive Director
Born and raised in New Orleans, EllenRae graduated from LSU with a B.A. in Sociology in 1968 and married her husband John soon after. She and John then moved to Southern California to raise their family, returning to New Orleans in 1991.
In California, EllenRae chaired several committees and fundraisers at Temple Beth Israel in Pomona. After studying accounting at California Polytechnic State University, she served for several years as the synagogue accounting manager and controller.
In 1993, EllenRae became an administrator for congregations in the Greater New Orleans Region and Sharon, Massachusetts. She became Executive Director of Temple Sinai in March 2006.
EllenRae is a senior member of the National Association of Temple Administration (NATA) and was recognized with their Myron E. Schoen Service to Judaism Award in November 2006. She also received a NATA pin in February 2017 for 20 years of outstanding service as a temple administrator.
EllenRae has felt very fortunate to work for the past 20 years in surroundings she considers an extension of her home and family.
EllenRae’s time outside of Temple Sinai is spent pursuing her many interests and enjoying time with family. She and John have a loving family that includes two sons, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.
