EllenRae was born and raised in the New Orleans Jewish community, the second child of Fanny and Al Webber. After graduating from LSU and marriage in 1968 to John Shalett, she moved away and raised her family in Southern California. She and her husband returned to New Orleans in 1991.

EllenRae has always been very involved in the Jewish community, both as a teen and as an adult. In her synagogue in California she served as chair of many committees as well as several fundraisers. She was also involved in many activities as a synagogue president’s wife for two years. Her accounting background and love for the Jewish community brought her to synagogue management.

After several years as an accounting manager and controller she became a synagogue administrator in 1993 in synagogues in the New Orleans area and Sharon, MA and was pleased to join the Temple Sinai staff as Executive Director in March of 2006. EllenRae is a Senior member of the National Association of Temple Administrators and in November of 2006 was presented with the Myron Schoen Service to Judaism award.

EllenRae has felt very fortunate to work for the past 20 years in surroundings she considers an extension of her home and family.

In addition to many other interests, EllenRae’s time away from Temple Sinai is spent with her family. She and John have a loving family that includes two sons, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.
