We are pleased to announce that Liz Yager has joined Temple Sinai as Executive Director.
Liz brings over 30 years of marketing and non-profit management experience to Temple Sinai. Most recently, she was Development Director for the Jefferson Council on Aging, where she effectively managed all fundraising, marketing and community engagement functions to promote senior well-being.
A committed Jew, Liz is a graduate of the Melton School of Jewish Learning and was one of seven brave adult women who made their Bat Mitzvah in 2012 (she is a self-proclaimed Hebrew school dropout). Liz grew up in Montreal, Canada and moved to New Orleans in 1987 from Toronto.
Throughout her years in New Orleans, Liz has been an active volunteer leader on the boards of the Jewish Community Center, Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation, and the Community Jewish Day School. Liz is currently on the Executive Committee of the National Council of Jewish Women, Greater New Orleans Section, and serves as Vice President of Public Affairs. Liz states, “I am excited to promote social justice and am honored to represent Temple Sinai in providing sanctuary to all within its walls.”
Liz’s three grown children are her pride and joy. Jaime, 26, lives in Denver as a corporate trainer; Kyla, 23, will live in Washington D.C. to join the Avodah program; and Jacob, 20, lives in Kingston, Ontario and studies engineering at Queen’s University.
Liz states, “I am humbled as I follow in the footsteps of all the accomplished executive directors of Temple Sinai. I aspire to serve the congregational members, to the best of my ability. I want to hear your stories and learn about why Temple Sinai is important to you. I am very much looking forward to meeting all of you and for the privilege of serving this wonderful New Orleans institution and all that it stands for.”
