JScreen, a nonprofit at-home education and carrier screening program for Jewish genetic diseases, is hosting a screening event in New Orleans on Sunday, June 11 at the JCC.

The testing panel features more than 200 diseases, including those commonly found in Ashkenazi, Mizrahi, and Sephardic populations.

Interested parties can pre-register and request their home testing kit at jscreen.org.

During registration, select “New Orleans JCC” when asked how you heard about JScreen. Enter your insurance information in step 2, and in step 4, enter coupon code “NOLA54” and click “apply.” Screening kits can be picked up on June 11 at the JCC from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-in registration will also be available.

Screening is free for the first 50 people to pre-register with insurance. After that, testing will cost $149 with insurance.

Testing is performed by a certified laboratory and results are reviewed and reported to participants by genetic counselors.
