The Temple Sinai Spring Gala is almost here! This year’s gala, with the theme Temple Sinai Dines & Dances Through the Decades, will be held on March 3, 2018 and honor three couples for their years of service, leadership, and friendship to Temple Sinai and the Greater New Orleans community. Meet this year’s honorees:
Amy Gainsburgh-Haspel & John Haspel
Amy is a lifelong member of Temple Sinai and John came on board when they married in July of 1987. One of their favorite Sinai memories was the Young Family Chavurah. The group participated in activities with their children and other Sinai families such as Tot Shabbat and family Chanukah dinner filled with singing and game playing. As their children, Sean and Hillary, got involved in Youth Group, Amy and John enjoyed supporting their endeavors, including helping to host a conclave. Other favorite Sinai-related activities include volunteering as a family at Second Harvest Food Bank and serving food on special occasions at Bridge House/Grace House. Time flies and their children are young adults, but they still enjoy volunteering together whenever possible.
Pamela & Rob Steeg
Pamela and Rob share a variety of interests. Pamela’s passion for over 10 years has been Planned Parenthood, as well as several organizations that are active in the field of early childhood education. She is currently a board member of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, a founding board member of the New Orleans Early Education Network, and a member of the the Ochsner Health Foundation Board. Rob’s family has been involved in Temple Sinai since its founding. Rob has served on the Board of Trustees of the Temple, and is presently a member of the New Orleans City Planning Commission, the Board of Trustees of the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the Board of Councilors of WWNO Radio.
Jennifer & Jack Benjamin, Jr.
Jennifer has served on the boards of Unity for the Homeless, Young Audiences Charter School, and CASA, among others, and has served on our own Caring and Religious School committees. Jack has also served this community and our synagogue on the Boards of the Metropolitan Crime Commission, Jewish Endowment Foundation, New Orleans Bar Association’s Inn of Court, and our own Board of Trustees.
The gala will feature singing and dancing performances, a DJ, a raffle, and a silent auction. Auction items include an Ida Kohlmeyer print and a one-week stay at a five bedroom house in Telluride, CO.
David Bernard, Chief Meteorologist for FOX 8 News, will serve as the emcee.
Sponsors, patrons, and underwriters are also invited to attend our Patron Party with food provided by Galatoire’s, Ruth’s Chris, and the Marriott Hotel. To learn more about becoming a sponsor, patron, or underwriter, click here.
