Preparing for the High Holy Days –
How to Get Ready and How to Get Even More Out of our Days of Awe This Year

In this course, we will get ready to welcome the New Year by exploring the many themes, traditions, and practices of the High Holy Days. We will take a closer look at Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur, and the 10 Days of Repentance. What makes these days so special? Why do we do what we do? We will discuss the liturgy, the prayers, the greetings, and the music of these Days of Awe. We will also talk about ways to prepare ourselves, our families, and our homes for the beginning of the New Year. In particular, we will discuss how the holy days will feel different this year, as well as changes we are having to make because of the pandemic. These discussions are open for all: those who have observed a lifetime of High Holy Days (but never quite like this), and those who are new to or exploring Judaism.

All classes will be held over Zoom. Join us for any or all of the four sessions on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. Register by contacting the Temple Sinai office.

If you have questions, suggestions, or ideas for future classes, please let Rabbi Sherman know by calling the Temple Sinai office or emailing him at
