Since 1881, Temple Sinai and Touro Synagogue have cooperated to meet the burial needs of congregants and others in the New Orleans Jewish community. The two synagogues own Hebrew Rest Cemetery Association, which operates Dispersed of Judah Cemetery at 4937 Canal Street and Hebrew Rest 1, 2, and 3 at Pelopidas and Elysian Fields. The cemeteries are open for visitation every day except Saturday from 8:30AM until approximately 5:00 PM. Security is provided at Hebrew Rest from 10:00AM until 2:00PM every Sunday. The cemeteries are closed on major Jewish holidays.

The cemeteries are sacred places of remembrance, honoring our loved ones and preserving our community’s history. To fulfill our mission to care for these cemeteries in perpetuity, we need your support.
Many of you and your families have purchased perpetual care for the grounds of individual burial spaces. Beyond our perpetual care obligations, we must maintain and repair all of the property, including lawns, shrubbery, sidewalks, and fences. We also have many graves of indigents and persons who were buried before perpetual care was offered. We are fortunate to have land for expansion, which requires investment to develop.
