This event will premiere new pieces by Jerry Sieg and Malcolm Parson; the centerpiece of the concert is the premiere of the orchestral version of “Perhaps a Butterfly” by Eliot Bailen. This is a song cycle Cantor Garfein commissioned from the composer in 2010 in memory of her maternal great-grandmother, Settchen Levi Feist, who was taken from Berlin to Theresienstadt concentration camp and ultimately murdered at Auschwitz. Featured in the song cycle are four poems written by children who were at Theresienstadt. Tickets are free of charge and available at the door. Tickets are available at nolachamberorch.com for a suggested donation of $20.
