Shavuot 5786

Shavuot is one of our most important holidays of the year. Known as Zeman Matan Torateinu, the festival marks the anniversary of our receiving God’s commandments and teachings at Mount Sinai. It is also called Chag HaBikkurim – the Festival of the First Fruits. Long ago our ancestors in the land of Israel made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem with the first fruits of their spring harvest to thank God for the fruits of their land and labor.

This year, we will celebrate Shavuot with a study session on Thursday evening, May 21. We will travel back to Mount Sinai by reading and accepting the Ten Commandments and discussing the meaning of Torah for us today.

We hope that you will join us for this festive night. Chag Sameach!
